What Is Union County Vocational-Technical Schools?

We provide opportunities for the residents of Union County to attend any of the following programs and/or schools located on our campus: The Academy for Allied Health Sciences – Students enrolled in this full-time program will participate in a comprehensive program designed to prepare the doctors, nurses, medical technicians, and health care managers of tomorrow. The Academy for Information Technology –Students enrolled in the Academy pursue a college-level technical training program in computer science and a full regimen of honors level academic classes. Magnet High School – Students enrolled here follow a comprehensive course of study in engineering as well as mathematics, science and technology. The Academy for Performing Arts – Students enrolled will participate in an intensive study in theatre arts and dance and a rigorous academic curriculum. The program culminates with a senior year at Kean University where students will take a full freshmen college course load. UC Tech – Students at UC Tech follow a comprehensive high school education program while simultaneously pursuing opportunities to study traditional vocational-technical programs. These programs include automotive technology, building trades, communication, public safety, culinary arts and cosmetology. Shared-Time – the District offers a myriad of regular education and self-contained special education programs on a half-time basis. In this scenario, students attend their local high school for all academic course work and spend either the morning or the afternoon session on our Scotch Plains campus for their vocational-technical specialization. Adult High School – provides an opportunity for students without a high school diploma to enroll in our adult high school program. This offering is available on our Scotch Plains campus as well as in satellite locations in Plainfield and Elizabeth. Students earn a state-endorsed New Jersey high school diploma.
