What Is Private College 529 Plan?
Private College 529 Plan is unique. It's the only way a family can save money on the cost of attending nearly 300 leading private colleges and universities nationwide. (Stanford to Princeton, TCU to Notre Dame, Amherst to Pomona, and hundreds more.) No matter how much tuition increases over the years, or how volatile the financial markets are, families lock in current rates that can be used at any of the participating colleges and universities. Private College 529 is not an investment. Families buy tomorrow's tuition at today's prices in the form of Tuition Certificates. Private College 529 Plan is a not-for-profit organization established by nearly 300 private colleges and universities to operate a prepaid tuition 529 plan to help families save and pay for a private college education. The Plan is directed by a board elected by member colleges and universities. The participating schools guarantee the prepaid tuition at any current institution or any that join in the future. The colleges and universities pay all costs through annual management fees so every dollar a family contributes to its account buys prepaid tuition. The Plan is authorized under section 529 of the Internal Revenue Code. The funds of account owners are pooled into a legally required Qualified Trust. The Plan has entered into an agreement with OFI Private Investments Inc., a subsidiary of OppenheimerFunds, Inc., to provide administrative, service and marketing support to the program. OFI Trust Company is the trustee for the Program Trust.
