Spanflug Technologies GmbH is an online manufacturer of CNC turning and milling parts that offers its customers a fully automated procurement process. To calculate a price in the online shop the user uploads a CAD model (STEP file) of the component to be manufactured, selects the desired material, the quantity (1 - 1000) and the delivery date. In addition, the customer can upload a PDF of the technical drawing to automatically read out information on individual manufacturing tolerances, fits, threads and surfaces. This allows functional components with high technical requirements to be considered. By applying an algorithm, the platform calculates a quotation price in a few seconds. Based on this price customers can order the components directly online. With Spanflug, the effort to request and wait for price quotes from multiple suppliers is eliminated. The ordering process is often shortened from several days to a few minutes. If required, components will be delivered within 10 business days . The goal of the company, which was founded in January 2018, is to make the often time-consuming and resource-intensive bidding process for CNC turned and milled parts as quick and easy as possible for both customers and suppliers, and to advance the digitization of the manufacturing industry in the area of CNC turning and milling. The additional procurement costs for turned and milled parts can thus be reduced significantly. The production of the CNC components takes place exclusively with qualified suppliers in Germany. Spanflug is a spin-off from the Institute for Machine Tools and Industrial Management (iwb) of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and participated in the incubator program Xpreneurs of the UnternehmerTUM Entrepreneurship Network.
