What Is KandM Advisors?

K&M is an international transaction and engineering advisory firm. Since its creation in 1987, K&M has been the Lead Transaction Advisor on 18 IPP/PPP power plant projects that reached financial closure. Ten of these were the first IPPs in their respective countries. K&M has been Owner's Engineer on 14 power plants with a total capacity of 5.9GW. K&M's Owner's Engineer work includes feasibility studies, technical due diligence, EPC procurement, design review and construction supervision. K&M is different from conventional advisory firms. K&M built its experience by working on the development or acquisition of power plants in which K&M successfully invested its own capital. K&M’s advice is based on having been exposed to, and successfully resolving, similar needs as those faced by K&M’s clients. K&M understands why and how to design enabling policies and regulations such that these are effective at supporting the public interest, and also at mobilizing private capital. K&M has pioneered the use of Independent Power Producers (IPP). K&M advised on the feasibility, engineering, and procurement of the first IPPs in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Jordan, Vietnam, Colombia and other countries. K&M also pioneered the standards of what is now internationally recognized as the Build-Own-Operate (BOO) and Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) project structures. Furthermore, K&M pioneered the use of credit enhancements mechanisms, such as partial risk guarantees, for improving the bankability of IPPs in emerging markets. K&M is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dorado Group LLC—a privately held company specialized on the development, investment and ownership of clean and reliable power generation projects. www.km-advisorsllc.com
