What Is FGen GmbH?
FGen is an emerging Swiss company that combines biological engineering, such as synthetic biology, metabolic engineering, or non-GMO methods, with high throughput screening to design and optimize cells for biotechnological applications. Key to this process is FGen's proprietary nonoliter-reactor (NLR) platform that enables the phenotypic screening of cell libraries at rates of more than 1 million clones per day, thereby surpassing multi-well plate systems by orders of magnitude. The NLR technology enables analysis under relevant conditions (e.g. fed-batch cultivation, defined environments) and has successfully be used for production of small molecules and proteins by bacteria, yeast, fungi, and mammalian cells. FGen uses its expertise in biological engineering and high throughput screening in collaboration with industrial partners in industrial biotech, life sciences and pharma to develop products for various markets.
