Charity In The Community (CITC) Revenue and Competitors

My wife and I founded this inner city Not-for-Profit in 2002 as a way to give back. We wanted to provide relevant employment skills to the un-served and under-served in inner city Chicago communities. We started by teaching basic computer skills and Microsoft Office to community residents and have progressed to a level where we now deliver IT training that leads to certification (A+, CCENT, CCNA, and more). This is a 100% volunteer effort but has been very successful in producing people with solid IT skills that has lead to meaningful employment. As ED, I oversee all aspects of this NFP but like any other volunteer at a NFP, I wear multiple hats. I design and develop the curriculum, deliver training classes, install and maintain the office network, and whatever else I have the skills to do. All of this is done after my regular job and on weekends. I love this with a passion and it is so rewarding to see the participants in our programs improving their lives!
