Yukon Public Schools, through its students, curriculum, staff, facilities and community, is committed to excellence. We believe this commitment will provide the opportunity for all students to become successful, contributing world citizens. History and Interesting Facts In 1891, the Yukon Public School's District opened its doors in a small, one-room frame building. Since then, the school system has grown to a school population of over 7,000 students. The district is now organized on four levels; seven pre-kindergarten through fifth grade elementary schools, two middle schools containing sixth through eighth grade, a high school campus consisting of a south campus for ninth and tenth graders, and a north campus which houses eleventh and twelfth graders. To learn more about our early years, take a look at our history. A Five Star System The Yukon Public School District is fully accredited by the Oklahoma State Department of Education. Further, the high school is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. Yukon has received the highest rating, a Five Star ranking, from the North Central Association in each of five categories; staff, community, students, curriculum, and facilities. Our Mascot Our mascot is a great source of pride in our district. The Millerman was derived from the strong, hard-working folks who operated our once thriving flour mill that still towers over downtown Yukon. Today, the Millerman remains a symbol of strength and hard work.
