What Is YWCA Australia?

YWCA Australia is the national association of YWCAs in Australia and is part of the world YWCA movement. We are a secular, women's-led organisation that achieves positive change by providing advocacy, programs and services for women, families and communities. Visit YWCA Australia's website www.ywca.org.au for more information. YWCAs across Australia develop the leadership and collective power of women and girls by supporting individuals, their families and communities at critical times. YWCA Australia is affiliated to the World YWCA; a global membership movement of women and young women who have been leading social and economic change in 125 countries, for over 150 years. The World YWCA advocates for peace, justice, human rights and care of the environment, and has been at the forefront of raising the status of women for over 150 years. In 2014, we began reviewing the sustainability the YWCA movement in Australia to ensure that YWCAs can remain relevant and efficiently and effectively deliver for current and future members. In 2016, the National Merger Project (NMP) was launched to explore options to merge to into a united, national entity to increase our impact and influence whilst strengthening our voice. The NMP is entering final stages of the project with YWCAs targeting a merger by the end of the 2017 calendar year. Visit the YWCA National Merger Project www.ywcamerger.org.au website for more information.
