What Is Wyndham City Council?

The City of Wyndham has a growing and diverse population. We have gathered the current figures, projections and statistics showing population makeup, density and needs of the Wyndham community for you to view. The City is located on the western edge of Melbourne and covers an area of 542km² and features 27.4km of coastline. The Australian Bureau of Statistics releases an Estimated Residential Population (ERP) figure each year. Wyndham’s 2015 ERP is 209,847 persons. Between 2014 and 2015, Wyndham had the largest growth in Victoria, adding 10,202 persons to its population. It also had the second largest percentage change in Victoria with 5.1%, behind Melbourne City with 5.6%. Point Cook, Werribee, Hoppers Crossing and Tarneit are the principal areas of population. The forecasts show that substantial growth will continue in Wyndham Vale, Tarneit, Point Cook and Werribee. Wyndham sits next to the municipalities of Greater Geelong, Moorabool, Melton, Brimbank and Hobsons Bay. The table below lists the suburbs of Wyndham with the projected 2016 and 2036 populations. Spanning 542 square kilometres on a coastal plain on the western fringe of Melbourne, the City is home to a diversity of sectors: strong industrial and technology districts, two major retail precincts, intensive vegetable growing areas and grazing lands. Key tourism and open space attractions such as the Werribee Park Mansion, Victoria's Open Range Zoo at Werribee, the State Equestrian Centre, the Point Cook Homestead and the Point Cook RAAF Museum surround the expansive urban area. The City is large and diverse. The principal areas of population are Werribee and Hoppers Crossing, with substantial growth occurring in Tarneit, Point Cook, Truganina and Wyndham Vale.
