What Is Voko?
We are Voko Rentals, a two-year-old startup business into home furnishing rental industry. Voko is a rental a platform where young urban millennial can get trendy and latest home and lifestyle products on an affordable and flexible monthly rental plan instead of paying upfront to buy expensive products. Started in March 2016by Harsh Vardhan and Bhuvnesh Sharmawho belong to IIT Kharagpur and IIT Delhi respectively, Idea of Voko was born out of our own personal challenge faced at the beginning of our work-life.While working at OYO Rooms, we had to relocate frequently for work purposeswhich would lead to frequent buying and selling of the furnishing products that would become a constant hassle and a financially unviable decision. Not buying those products was a less than an optimal solution which didn't go with the lifestyle we aspired to have. We were keen on finding an alternative, where we could pay for the time we used the products, without any commitmentor lock-in period. There are close to 400 Million Millennials in India, who, as we understand, are shy of taking big buying decision due to multiple factors such as the fast pace of technology upgrades, nature of work and work opportunities requiring the workforce to remain highly mobile, or prohibitive cost of certain aspirational lifestyle products and so on and so forth. This consumeristic mindset of getting the latest gadgets and constantly upgrading lifestyle is going to lead to more and more people choosing to never own/buy furniture and appliances but rent or subscribe the same, in next 10 years. This huge problem of the millennial generation is a great opportunity to change the way people own products and become part of an ecologically sustainable lifestyle. Our mission is to enable a better alternative to access lifestyle products with more affordability and flexibility.
