Vala Sciences Inc. is a fast-growing San Diego-based biotechnology company that develops and sells cell-based analysis and imaging software and reagents to scientists in academia and pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Vala Sciences has developed intellectual property that enables information-rich, high throughput measurements for making fundamentally new insights into cell function. Vala Sciences software and assay technology can be applied to images acquired on any microscope or cell-based imaging system. Q3DM sold the technology to Beckman Coulter in December 2003 for manufacturing and worldwide distribution.
