The company is the third largest U.S. supplier of SBS paperboard for folding cartons, is among the nation's top 10 folding carton manufacturers and is a major producer of lumber and poles. In addition to these product offerings, the company manages some 400,000 acres of Alabama woodlands, is involved in real estate development and operates one of Alabama's best known private clubs — NorthRiver. Although Gulf States is vertically integrated, products from Gulf States' various divisions might be sold in the open market as well as used to supply another part of the company's total operations.
