What Is The Fair Work Ombudsman?

Since 2009, the Fair Work Ombudsman has worked to promote harmonious, productive and cooperative workplaces. We’re here to make understanding workplace relations as simple as possible. Our services are free to all employers and workers in Australia. The Fair Work Ombudsman provides impartial, reliable workplace advice and we encourage everyone to seek our advice with confidence. We: - offer people a single point of contact for accurate and timely information about Australia’s workplace relations system - educate people working in Australia about fair work practices, rights and obligations - investigate complaints or suspected contraventions of workplace laws, awards and agreements - litigate to enforce workplace laws and deter people from doing wrong in the community - build strong and effective relationships with industry, unions and other stakeholders. We are here to help everyone, but know that small business can need extra support. Small businesses can access specialised resources on fairwork.gov.au/smallbusiness and priority assistance via our small business helpline on 13 13 94.
