Shellharbour is a City of about 65,000 people, located approximately 100 kilometres from the centre of Sydney, in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia. Our 154 square kilometres span an area of great natural beauty, stretching west from the picturesque coastline to rolling pastures, against the majestic backdrop of the Illawarra escarpment. The Shellharbour Local Government Area was formed in 1859. It achieved City status some 136 years later, on 1 January, 1996.
