What Is San Marcos Unified School District?

The San Marcos Economic Development Corporation is a non-profit 501c6 corporation formed in 1997. The mission of the San Marcos Economic Development Corporation (SMEDC) is to support and advance the economic, educational, and cultural interests of the community of San Marcos by: Serving to research, plan, and implement a comprehensive strategy for the City's continued success; Linking the business community with educational, governmental, and non-profit organizations; and Facilitating development projects with the assistance of the City's staff in conformance with the City of San Marcos General Plan. The SMEDC membership donates time and money to assist in attaining our goals. We have a 13 member Board of Directors made up of appointees by the City Council, representatives from the educational community, and elected at-large members with strong leadership and business backgrounds. We market one product, San Marcos, CA.
