It all started with a preoccupation with precision.General Resistance was originally formed to specialize in the manufacture of precision wire wound resistors and developed a series of test and measurement instruments of unparalled accuracy.The company established itself as a major supplier to government and industry. Government contracts included passive and active components for Sea Sparrow, Safeguard/Spartan, Poseidon, Polaris, LEM, Talos, Sub-Roc, Vanguard and Trident among others.General Resistance then applied its expertise in precision technology to three related fields of instrumentation- displacement measurement transducers, switch-mode power supplies, meters and controllers.Such diversification resulted in the formation and acquisition of additional corporate divisions. Presently, four companies are grouped beneath the Prime Technology banner.
