What Is Primaris Management?

Primaris Management Inc. was created in 2003 by OMERS, as a publicly traded real estate investment trust, to own and manage regional enclosed shopping centres that are dominant in their primary trade area, either in major or secondary markets. In 2013, H&R REIT acquired the Primaris operating platform and 25 of the properties owned and managed by Primaris. \n\nAs one of the largest managers of shopping centres in Canada, Primaris is a recognized name in the shopping centre industry. In total, Primaris manages approximately 10 million square feet across Canada, which includes 17 regional enclosed shopping centres, 14 open-air retail properties and 2 office buildings. As the Canadian retail division of H&R REIT (TSX: HR.UN), one of Canada's largest diversified real estate investment trusts with total assets of approx. $13.4 billion, Primaris is also responsible for the leasing of H&R REIT’s retail portfolio of 38 properties, which encompass approximately 2.5 million square feet.\n\nSince 2003, Primaris has assembled a team with a primary focus on the management of regional enclosed shopping centres. Primaris has established a reputation as a company where people aspire to work and with whom retailers want to partner. We take great pride in operating with a national focus while maintaining strong ties to the communities in which we operate.\n\nWhile it is important to have a solid leasing and development team driving revenue, it is equally important to focus on cost control. With tenants now focusing more on gross rents and challenging operating expense increases, Primaris has centralized and added depth to our lease administration and accounts receivable groups.
