Primaris Management Inc. was created in 2003 by OMERS, as a publicly traded real estate investment trust, to own and manage regional enclosed shopping centres that are dominant in their primary trade area, either in major or secondary markets. In 2013, H&R REIT acquired the Primaris operating platform and 25 of the properties owned and managed by Primaris. \n\nAs one of the largest managers of shopping centres in Canada, Primaris is a recognized name in the shopping centre industry. In total, Primaris manages approximately 10 million square feet across Canada, which includes 17 regional enclosed shopping centres, 14 open-air retail properties and 2 office buildings. As the Canadian retail division of H&R REIT (TSX: HR.UN), one of Canada's largest diversified real estate investment trusts with total assets of approx. $13.4 billion, Primaris is also responsible for the leasing of H&R REIT’s retail portfolio of 38 properties, which encompass approximately 2.5 million square feet.\n\nSince 2003, Primaris has assembled a team with a primary focus on the management of regional enclosed shopping centres.
