What Is Pelvic Health and Rehabilitation Center?

Pelvic Health and Rehabilitation Center (PHRC) opened its doors in San Francisco in July 2006. Today, PHRC has seven locations in San Francisco, Berkeley, Los Gatos, Walnut Creek & Los Angeles, California, and Lexington, MA and Bedford, NH. One of the things that makes our clinic unique is that as physical therapists we focus solely on pelvic floor dysfunction in men, women, & transgender and gender non-comforming persons. The benefit of our focus is that it has allowed us to establish a deep well of experience that we are able to draw from when helping people restore their pelvic health. We are experts in pelvic floor dysfunction including pregnancy and postpartum issues, pelvic pain syndromes such as Vulvodynia, Interstitial Cystitis, Pudendal Neuralgia, Endometriosis, Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome, and pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, and sexual dysfunction. Another thing that sets us apart is the interdisciplinary treatment approach we embrace. Pelvic health spans many medical disciplines and our close relationships with other medical providers allows us to help our patients better navigate appropriate and efficient treatment options. We embrace the role of “CEO” of the treatment team. The reason we take on this role is that we believe that in order for an interdisciplinary treatment plan to be successful, there must be one provider at the helm of the ship. And since we are the provider who will spend the most time with the patient, it makes sense for us to tackle the job! Liz and Stephanie are frequent speakers on the topic of pelvic floor physical therapy at different events around the globe. Together they coauthored the popular book, Pelvic Pain Explained. In addition to their regular speaking engagements, organizational activities and community outreach, the PHRC staff writes an award-winning, weekly blog, As The Pelvic Turns and are on Instagram and Twitter as @pelvichealth and Facebook as @pelvicpainphysicaltherapy.
