Realizing the need for qualified railroad operations staff, to replace a rapidly shrinking talent pool due to retirements, the research and development of Northwest Railroad Institute (NW-RI) was started in February of 2012. NW-RI is now the newest division of the International Air & Hospitality Academy (IAHA) founded in 1979. After 16 months of conducting research, developing our Advisory Committee, planning our curriculum, purchasing equipment, and hiring our Education Team our first class started on July 15th of 2013.
