What Is National Veterinary Laboratory?

The National Veterinary Laboratory, Inc. is the oldest private veterinary laboratory in the country, established by Dr. William D. Hardy, Jr in 1973. It has been a leader in providing preventive testing for cats, first with the original FeLV IFA test, The FeLeuk® Test, and then with the first 𝐵𝑎𝑟𝑡𝑜𝑛𝑒𝑙𝑙𝑎 test, the FeBart® Test in 1999. We were first to alert veterinarians to the importance of testing cats for 𝐵𝑎𝑟𝑡𝑜𝑛𝑒𝑙𝑙𝑎 infection as a method of providing good zoonotic public health for their clients and as a means of preventing diseases in client's pets. Our FeBart® Test is a practical, economical and accurate test for the detection of 𝐵𝑎𝑟𝑡𝑜𝑛𝑒𝑙𝑙𝑎. Our FeLeuk® IFA Test is considered the Gold Standard for FeLV tests as shown by numerous studies (References on our website). The FeLeuk® IFA Test was used to control the spread of FeLV among cats before and after the development of the FeLV vaccines and was used by us, and our collaborators, to elucidate most of the FeLV- induced diseases (References on our website). In addition, we perform the FIV western blot test for routine diagnosis and confirmation of FIV positive ELISA tests.
