The NHC is a WhÄ?nau Ora organisation with a national Primary Health Organisation (PHO) containing over 60 GP practices. NHC practices were largely drawn together through the merging of 11 MÄ?ori-led Primary Health Organisations (PHOs). The NHC wants WhÄ?nau Ora for all whÄ?nau in New Zealand. WhÄ?nau Ora, as a state of wellbeing, is best defined by whÄ?nau for themselves. It can also be said that whÄ?nau ora is achieved by whÄ?nau when they have aspirations for themselves and their mokopuna, and feel able to succeed in New Zealand and the world. WhÄ?nau ora is often described by whÄ?nau as being healthy, happy, educated, employed and able to ensure their children, and their childrenâ??s children have every opportunity.
