The Heart Foundation is New Zealand's heart health charity. We fund research and promote heart health, helping New Zealanders to live fulfilled lifetimes. We are steadfast in our goal to stop New Zealanders dying prematurely from heart disease. Since we started 50 years ago, heart disease death rates in New Zealand have halved and stroke death rates have almost halved. Despite these tremendous advances, these diseases still account for more than 30% of all deaths in New Zealand each year, many of which are premature and preventable. With your help we can continue the fight against heart disease - the single biggest killer of men and women. Here's how we help. Research and grants - We provide in excess of 40 million dollars for heart research, to enable young cardiologists and researchers to carry out research and undertake training. Food industry and hospitality - We develop and support public private partnerships that encourage better food choices. Improving Pacific Health - We support Pacific people to make healthy lifestyle choices through health promotion events, healthy eating courses and smoke free training. Heart health Information - We provide a range of information booklets and resources for both health professionals and those interested in heart health. Cardiac rehabilitation - We proudly support many heart support groups which provide practical help and support for patients and families following a heart event.
