NHS Health Scotland Revenue and Competitors

We work to improve the health of everyone in Scotland equitably. Our focus is on improving the health outcomes of the least well off in society at a quicker rate than the most well off, to reduce health inequalities and improve life expectancy. To be effective at this we work upstream on the socioeconomic drivers of poor health such as housing, employment and environment, and downstream by helping to improve population health. Our main roles are to provide evidence of what works to reduce health inequalities, work across all sectors in Scotland to put this evidence into action, and support national and local policy makers to design and evaluate interventions that help build a fairer, healthier Scotland. A human rights based approach frames our work, and the right to the highest attainable standard of health for everyone underpins our strategic thinking. Our organisation takes great stock in engaging with stakeholders across the public, private, third and community sectors, and supporting partnerships beyond the NHS that can be the levers for change.
