What Is Moonee Valley City Council?
Local council Web page address www.mvcc.vic.gov.au Moonee Valley City Council is a local government within the north-west metropolitan area of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. We formed in 1994 as the result of a merger between the City of Essendon and City of Keilor. What we do We are responsible for providing a range of community services for residents and businesses within the City of Moonee Valley. These include areas of childcare, aged and disability, libraries, animal registration, planning, street cleaning, parking management, citizenship ceremonies, garbage collection and recycling. We also look after community buildings, footpaths and roads, parks and gardens, bridges, drains and street furniture, environmental areas, recreation centres and sporting grounds. We want to know if you are satisfied with the services we provide and have a set of customer service standards that we follow. There are three wards that make up our city - Rose Hill, Buckley and Myrnong. Each ward is represented by three Councillors. Did you know we: Eemploy around 350 local residents Spend around $5 million each year maintaining 410km of local roads, 790km of footpaths and more than 16,000 drainage pits Provide over 100,000 hours of care to frail aged residents and people with a disability and their carers Pick up over four million rubbish and recycling bins each year Own and run five libraries, the Clocktower Centre, Incinerator Gallery and the Flemington Community Centre Recycle more than 45 per cent of all waste generated locally Help around 600 people become citizens each year Organise events like the Moonee Valley Festival, Youth Week festivities, Artecycle and Carols Provide over $300,000 to community groups each year Run one of Victoria's largest Walking School Bus Programs Plant around 10,000 trees per year Provide around 7,000 immunisation injections each year Any many other services, please visit www.mvcc.vic.gov.au to see more
