The Major Transport Infrastructure Authority (MTIA) is responsible for facilitating the development and delivery of the biggest transport infrastructure program in Victorian history. Key MTIA projects include the: - removal of 75 dangerous and congested level crossings across metropolitan Melbourne - Metro Tunnel to unblock the bottleneck in the city loop and free up space for more trains - West Gate Tunnel to provide a second river crossing for Melbourne - North East Link to complete the missing link in Melbourne?s orbital ring road - Airport Rail Link to connect Melbourne Airport to metropolitan and regional lines - Regional Rail Revival upgrade to every regional passenger line in Victoria - upgrade of suburban and regional roads, including 21 main roads in the outer suburbs. MTIA is a specialist organisation, comprising skilled and experienced staff across the various professional disciplines involved in transport infrastructure project delivery. Led by the Director-General, it has five key groups: Level Crossing Removal Project, Major Road Projects Victoria, the North East Link Project, Rail Projects Victoria and the West Gate Tunnel Project.
