KIPP SoCal Public Schools is a non-profit organization that operates 20 tuition-free, open-enrollment elementary and middle charter public schools across Southern California, focused on preparing students in systemically under-resourced communities to lead choice-filled lives. Together with families and communities, we create joyful, academically excellent schools that prepare students to pursue the paths they choose, college, career and beyond, so they can lead fulfilling lives and build a more just world. \n\nOur whole-child approach to learning not only focuses on rigorous academics, but also character development, enrichment, social-emotional learning, physical and mental health, cognition, sense of identity, and the nurturing of ones' purpose.\n\nThrough the success of our students, and our award-winning schools, the KIPP SoCal team and family will serve as a model of excellence and collaborate with others to raise the quality of education in Los Angeles. We currently operate 20 schools and educate over 9,000 students, and support 5,100 alumni. KIPP SoCal has received three Blue Ribbon School Awards and five California Distinguished Schools Awards. \n\nOur KIPP Through College Team (KTC) supports KIPP SoCal students and alumni with individual, personalized counseling on their journeys to and through high school and college. KTC is sustained by philanthropy, and committed to ensuring students receive the customized support services needed to thrive in high school, college and beyond. \n\nKIPP SoCal is part of the nationwide KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program) network of 224 schools across the US and educating 100,000+ students.\n\nStudents are accepted regardless of prior academic record or socioeconomic background. If there are more applicants than available spaces, students are admitted through a state-mandated lottery process.
