Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) is the economic and community development agency for an area covering more than half of Scotland's land mass from Shetland in the north to the southern tip of Argyll and including almost 100 inhabited islands. \n\nHIE has 4 priorities:\n\n1. Accelerating business growth\n\n2. Strengthening communities and fragile areas\n\n3. Developing growth sectors, particularly distinctive regional opportunities \n\n4. Developing regional attractiveness \n\n\nAs the Scottish Government’s economic and community development agency for the north and west of Scotland, in line with the Government Economic Strategy (GES), HIE’s purpose is to generate sustainable economic growth in every part of the Highlands and Islands.\n\nOur vision is for the Highlands and Islands to be a highly successful and competitive region in which increasing numbers of people choose to live, work, study and invest.
