What Is Hauser and Wirth?

Hauser & Wirth was founded in 1992 in Zurich by Iwan Wirth, Manuela Wirth and Ursula Hauser, who were joined in 2000 by co-president Marc Payot. A family business with a global outlook, Hauser & Wirth has expanded to include outposts in Hong Kong, London, New York, Los Angeles, Somerset, Gstaad and St. Moritz. \n\nThe gallery represents over 80 artists and estates who have been instrumental in shaping its identity, and who are the inspiration for Hauser & Wirth’s diverse range of activities that engage with art, education, conservation and sustainability. \n\nHauser & Wirth has built a reputation for its dedication to artists and support of visionary artistic projects worldwide. In addition to presenting a dynamic schedule of physical and online exhibitions, the gallery collaborates with renowned curators to present museum quality surveys and invests considerable resources in new scholarship and research. Since its earliest days, the gallery has presented academically rigorous and ambitious historic exhibitions alongside its contemporary programme. \n\nDigital experiences are the forefront of Hauser & Wirth’s focus on providing greater access to artists and their work through films and original content. ArtLab, the gallery’s dedicated research and innovation arm, explores projects at the intersection of art and technology. ArtLab was formed to create bespoke solutions for the most pressing issues in the art world, including greater accessibility and sustainability. In 2020 Hauser & Wirth launched a Virtual Reality (VR) exhibition modelling tool called HWVR which allows for the planning and creation of digital interactive exhibitions. ArtLab also hosts a digital residency program at Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles for artists and their teams.\n\nA commitment to education underpins the Hauser & Wirth exhibition roster. Every show is accompanied by a series of lectures, interactive seminars, innovative workshops, and special events developed for a range of ages and target audiences
