What Is Get Schooled?

Get Schooled was founded in 2010 through a partnership with Viacom and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Our mission is to empower and engage young people and to give them the tools and inspiration to get the education they need to succeed. We use our digital platform, gamification and a recipe we call ‘sizzle and substance' to inspire and engage students. Since launch we've posted more than 10 million visits to our site and have built a community of close to a million young people attending close to 11,000 middle schools, high school and colleges throughout the United States. Get Schooled believes passionately in the power of education to transform lives, but we also know that for many of the young people we serve, education and work is inextricably linked. About 1/3 of high school graduates do not directly enroll in college. More than 2/3 of young people in college work and go to school at the same time. Jobs matter. And because we care about the long term success of the young people we serve, jobs matter to us too. Then in 2018, Get Schooled developed a partner site called JobLaunch. This site is designed to connect young people with entry level job opportunities as well as digital and text-based resources that support young people as they search for, acquire, succeed (and ultimately grow out of) that first job.
