Primarily, Melissa works in sculpture and drawing. Her work ranges from photo-realistic to extremely abstract. Many of her pieces, however, have a flavor of surrealism. These works are often thought up spontaneously and sculpted from clay or drawn on paper, usually manifesting as fantastic or impossible creatures or objects. Melissa also works by commission. Her most popular commissions are charcoal drawings, which she creates from photos given to her by clients. Using these photos as a guideline, Melissa creates photo-realistic drawings that are, most often, of extreme sentimental importance for the people who request them. Other types of commissions she has worked on include sculptures for local businesses, logo design, custom framing, web building/design, pottery, custom paintings, and photography and photo editing. She continues to develop her art and to explore new mediums as creative outlets. As a result, her work continues to evolve with new pieces and in new directions.
