Opening a further three IMAX screens across the country. Empire Leicester Square become the first cinema in Europe to update its IMAX auditorium with IMAX’s Laser Projection System. IMAX with laser represents a quantum leap forward in cinema technology – providing audiences with the sharpest, brightest, clearest and most vivid digital images ever, combined with a whole new level of immersive audio. In October, a new state of the art, seven-screen cinema was unveiled in Catterick, as part of the Princes Gate leisure development. The new cinema seats 848 customers, including 247 in Empire Cinemas’ IMPACT format, which has a spectacular screen, sensational sound and superb stadium seating with extra leg room. \n\nEmpire Cinemas is also the home of alternative content, screening the latest productions from the worldly renowned Royal Opera House, National Theatre Live and English National Opera straight to cinemagoers. \n\nThe community is at the core of Empire Cinemas, with money-saving schemes including Meerkat Movies, SAV£RDAY Tuesday, Parent and Baby, Last Chance To See Thursdays, Empire Jnrs and Empire Seniors helping to give every customer a unique cinema experience.
