What Is Economic Development Board?
The Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), a government agency under the Ministry of Trade and Industry, is responsible for strategies that enhance Singapore's position as a global centre for business, innovation, and talent. Our mission is to create sustainable economic growth, with vibrant business and good job opportunities for Singapore. The following key elements are essential in achieving our mission and vision: 1. Attracting Investments We are a one-stop agency which facilitates and supports local and foreign investors in both the manufacturing and services sectors, as they move up the value chain to achieve higher sustainable returns and seek out new business opportunities. 2. Growing Industry Verticals While Singapore commands global leadership in many areas, we focus on expanding and extending existing industry verticals. Exploring new growth areas will contribute towards creating good jobs and sustaining Singapore's competitiveness. 3. Enhancing Business Environment While interacting with investors and promoting investments, we provide feedback to other government agencies to ensure that infrastructure and public services remain efficient and cost-competitive; so that Singapore maintains its premier pro-business environment. 4. Pointing Singapore Towards the Future EDB is the compass in preparing the nation for the future. While we have established a strong position in the global economy, more needs to be done in this increasingly competitive environment in order to safeguard the city's standing in the region and beyond.
