What Is Dublin Unified School District?

Dublin offers teachers ongoing professional development in the use of district provided, state-of-the-art technology for effective integration in the curriculum. Technology coaches support teachers at their respective school sites, offering training in the use of our student assessment system and web communication system, classroom presentation systems and educational technology programs. Curriculum is standards-aligned and assessment-driven. There is a high level of collaboration among teachers. Teachers have desktop access to student assessment data. There is new teacher support through the TriValley Teacher Induction Project (BTSA). Our certificated salary schedule is competitive. Teachers have modern multi media workstations or laptops, high speed laser printers, computers in classrooms, projectors or large screen TVs, document cameras, smart boards, voice enhancement systems, N-computers, and up to date labs. There is strong community support for our schools. 73% voted "Yes" on Measure "C" in November 2004, a $184 million bond measure. A parcel tax passed with 72% voting yes in 2008. Dublin parents are active in parent organizations and in our educational foundation. Some of our elementary schools have the F.A.M.E (Fine Arts Mini-Experience) program organized and provided by parent volunteers. There is district support for innovative practices. Elementary teachers in first to fifth grade have four preps per week and kindergarten teachers have a daily prep. Secondary teachers have a daily prep. All of our schools have been modernized or are planned for modernization in the next few years. The district is growing annually at an average of 5%. Fallon school (K-8) opened September 2005; Green Elementary School opened September 2007 and Kolb Elementary is scheduled to open September 2011. Dublin High School is currently under new construction and renovation and the math/science building opened Winter 2009. A state of art stadium opened Fall 2006. Upon completion, Dublin HS will have the capacity to accommodate 2500 students. Our K-5 report cards are standards-based and teachers complete electronically via online access. Dublin Unified School District has high performing schools with a district API of 840. Six years ago only two of our schools were in the "800 Club". This year all of our elementary schools and middle schools have API scores of over 800. Frederiksen Elementary received recognition as a California Distinguished School in 2003-04; and Wells Middle and Dublin High were both recognized with this distinction in 2002-03. This was Dublin High School's fourth Distinguished School award. Murray Elementary received recognition as a California Distinguished School in 2007-08. Wells Middle School was again recognized as a Distinguished School in 2008-2009 and Valley High School was recognized as a "model" continuation high school. A nationally commissioned research study found Dublin Unified as the highest performing district at all levels among the 22 school districts in the Bay Area School Reform Collaborative. Our district is comprised of dedicated teachers, administrators and support staff who are committed to the success of all of our students. The district offers a wide range of alternative programs which include a growing adult education program, Quest (an independent program), and Pathways (a K-3 alternative high parent involvement program). All schools house an independent Extended Day Child Care (EDCC) program and after school recreation program sponsored by the Dublin's Parks and recreation program. Dublin Unified has the highest graduation requirements in the Tri-Valley area. And finally, this is a really great district to work in!
