Congratulations Westport Elementary School for earning a second Title I Academic Achievement Award for meeting targeted achievement goals for students for two consecutive years. Their first award was received in the 2009-2010 year. Congratulations to the students, staff, teachers and administration of Westport Elementary School for achieving excellence in education! In April 2010, Westport Elementary School was also granted the California Distinguished Schools award for excellence in narrowing the achievement gap through promising practices that can be replicated by other schools throughout the state. "The 2010 California Distinguished Schools have persevered despite state budget cutbacks that have cut deeply into the budgets of local school districts," stated State Superintendent of Instruction, Jack O'Connell. "These dedicated educators clearly share a school-wide vision of excellence where every student can succeed and achieve at the very highest levels of performance."
