What Is Cameron Mackintosh?

For nearly 50 years Cameron Mackintosh has been producing more musicals than anyone else in history, including the three longest-running musicals of all time, Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera and Cats, which are still running extraordinarily successfully across the world.\r\n\r\nUniquely, Cameron, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of both Les Misérables and The Phantom Of The Opera, has mounted new versions of both shows which are now proving as successful as the original. His spectacular new production of Miss Saigon, which was the fourth of his hits, opened to enormous acclaim at London’s Prince Edward Theatre will move on to Broadway, with additional companies in Korea, Japan, and soon to open in Germany and Australia, as well as several productions around the world. As well as this new UK national tour, Mary Poppins continues to disperse her magic globally and is soon to open in Germany, France, Spain, Japan and Korea. As well as original musicals, Cameron enjoys producing new versions of such classics as My Fair Lady and Oliver! – which continue to be enjoyed by new generations. Other musicals he has created include Little Shop of Horrors, Side by Side by Sondheim, Martin Guerre, The Witches of Eastwick, Betty Blue Eyes, a re-imagined production of Barnum and a new version of Half a Sixpence due this year. He also produced the most successful production ever of Stephen Sondheim’s legendry Follies in London.
