What Is Australian Maritime College?
The Australian Maritime College is a specialist institute of the University of Tasmania and is Australia's national institute for maritime education, research and training located in Launceston, Northern Tasmania. If you love the water and are interested in a career in the maritime or marine industries, AMC provides the training and qualifications that will get you there. Whether you want to work out at sea on coastal or oceangoing vessels, keep the world moving in the logistics industry, or design super structures on the ocean, you’ll be taught by industry leading experts and have access to some of the best facilities in the world. AMC offers a wide range of courses and programs spanning the following areas: - Coastal and ocean seafaring - Maritime logistics and international business - Maritime engineering and hydrodynamics. Qualifications start from vocational certificates and diplomas through to undergraduate, postgraduate and research higher degrees. Our students enjoy access to the southern hemisphere’s most advanced collection of maritime facilities, including a fleet of training vessels; ship simulators; engineering workshops; firefighting, survival and damage control facilities; as well as the unique cluster of hydrodynamic facilities which include a towing tank, model test basin and cavitation tunnel. They gain skills that are in high demand and go on to work in fields as diverse as the shipping industry, oil and gas sector, and ports and logistics management. Their AMC qualifications are internationally recognised, which means their work can literally take them anywhere in the world.
