August Mack Environmental, Inc. was founded in 1988 by Geoffrey A. Glanders and Bryan K. Petriko as an environmental consulting and engineering firm headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. Working in the industry throughout their careers, Glanders, a hydrogeologist, and Petriko, an engineer, recognized a need for a technically diversified firm to effectively address a wide range of environmental compliance issues. With this in mind, they founded the company under the name Hoosier Environmental Services, Inc., which was based on a commitment to industry, employee development, technical diversification and the use of innovative technologies to create a balance between environmental compliance and business needs. Hoosier Environmental focused on providing a full range of environmental services, including site investigation, air quality, tank management, remedial action and pollution control. Over the next three years, the company focused on developing a core base of clients by providing quality, responsive environmental services. Much of the company's success in this area can be attributed to Glanders' and Petriko's management philosophy, which relies on team work, internal development and maintaining dedicated employees. Since its founding, the company has maintained a very low employee turnover rate, which contributed to the development of long-term, mutually beneficial consultant/client relationships so critical to growth in a highly competitive and ever-changing industry. By 1992, Hoosier Environmental saw the benefits of its client development efforts. Its client base had expanded to include industries throughout the Midwest. To best serve this expanding client base, the company opened its second branch office in Dublin, Ohio. In crossing the state line, Hoosier Environmental ran into some resistance with its territorial name. So in 1992, Glanders and Petriko changed the name to reach beyond the Hoosier state. August Mack Environmental is a tribute to their two grandfathers who taught them the benefits of hard work and persistence. Glander's grandfather is August, and partner, Petriko's grandfather is Mack. By 1994, the ingenuity, hard work and innovation of August Mack's principals had created a business recognized for quality, responsive services throughout the United States. Today, with four offices, the company continues to foster and reach a diversity of clients. Since its founding, the principals of August Mack have developed a strong presence, providing input on and participating in numerous environmental seminars for the industry. Nineteen years since its founding, Glanders and Petriko remain dedicated to the same philosophies which have driven the company's success. They have assembled a technically diversified staff consisting of over 85 engineers, geologists, hydrogeologists and environmental scientists with a core client base including many of Hoosier Environmental's first clients.
