What Is Association of Child Life Professionals?

The Association of Child Life Professionals is a non-profit organization that advances the well-being of children and families by promoting effective, quality child life services in health care environments. Members make lasting connections as they share knowledge and resources, both through ACLP's online learning communities and at face-to-face meetings. ACLP is a center for professional development and learning, with print and online educational offerings that keep the child life community up to date on the latest research and developments. ACLP also administers the rigorous, examination-based Child Life Certification program, with a continuing education component that ensures a high standard of professional competence among those bearing the Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) credential. The association is governed by a Board of Directors elected from the membership. The work of the association is accomplished by committees and task forces comprised of member volunteers, who work in partnership with the paid staff, located at the Association of Child Life Professionals' headquarters in Arlington, Virginia.
