AIMed is a movement embracing a new paradigm of #healthcare and #medicine powered by #artificialintelligence (AI) It was founded by @Anthony Chang, MD, MBA, MPH, MS , Chief Intelligence and Innovation Officer @CHOC Children's and the chair of AIMed, one of the few people in the world with an extensive knowledge of both medicine and artificial intelligence. Even though Dr. Chang came from a strong academic background and has had renowned mentors as well as having authored and edited many articles and textbooks, he came to realize early in his career that medicine is woefully inadequate and often lacking in data-supported information and knowledge. To better prepare himself for this new era of artificial intelligence, he returned to school and studied biomedical data science and artificial intelligence at Stanford School of Medicine, in what was a four-year continually epiphanous and intellectually transformational journey. Dr. Chang is the founder and medical director of the Medical Intelligence and Innovation Institute (MI3) at CHOC, that is supported by the Sharon Disney Lund Foundation. The institute is dedicated to implement data science and artificial intelligence in medicine and is the first institute of its kind in a hospital. It is his hope that AIMed acts as a clarion call to start a clinician led revolution which will embrace AI whilst retaining academic integrity.
