The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) is Australia's independent regulator for all vehicles over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. From the paddock to the ports, and through our cities and towns, the transport and freight industry contributes significantly to the livelihood of everyday Australians and to our national prosperity. Since we opened for business in January 2013, we have continued to work closely with a broad variety of industry sectors and our government partners to build a safe, productive and innovative heavy vehicle industry We administer the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), which currently applies in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory.
