At Center for Discovery Bellevue we treat women 18 and over who struggle with eating disorders such as Anorexia, Bulimia, and Binge Eating. At Center for Discovery, we understand how difficult it can be to seek residential treatment for an eating disorder. Eating disorders are extremely complex and require a variety of resources and therapeutic approaches for treatment. At Center for Discovery Bellevue, we hold a fundamental perspective that eating disorders are compulsive by nature, have their origins in a multitude of factors, and recovery is possible. Eating disorders originate as compulsive disorders and become a coping mechanism that at one time assisted the resident to manage overwhelming stress and feelings. There are many factors that contribute to the origination of eating disorders including genetic predisposition, social developmental influences, family functioning style, dieting, major life changes, illness and medical procedures, amongst many others. One or more of these factors can lead to emotional chaos. This psychological and emotional chaos then overwhelms your ability to use the required skills for living a healthy lifestyle. This is the point where extreme obsessive thoughts begin.
