About
The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS specialist cancer treatment facilities in the UK — employing over 1,000 staff and having over 220,000 patient contacts a year with more than 30,000 patients. From our main hospital in Wirral, our radiotherapy centre in Aintree and our chemotherapy and outpatient clinics in hospitals across Merseyside and Cheshire, we serve a population of 2.3 million. That includes Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales, the Isle of Man and parts of Lancashire. Our Transforming Cancer Care programme will see us expand with a major new specialist cancer hospital in the heart of Liverpool in 2019. We provide an outstanding level of care; cutting-edge cancer treatments, a comprehensive network of off-site clinics and multi-disciplinary teams throughout the region, and a supportive environment committed to providing cancer patients and their families with advice and support. We deliver treatments to our patients through radiotherapy and chemotherapy services. We also have a sophisticated diagnostic imaging department and are currently the only provider of proton beam therapy in the UK: the National Centre for Eye Proton Therapy. With the support of the Teenage Cancer Trust we host the region's Teenage and Young Adult Unit.
