About
Founded in 1893, TMI is the oldest Episcopal School in the southwest, known to most as Texas Military Institute, the school embodies so much more than the name implies. Indeed, the school is a 6-12 coeducational college preparatory school with deep roots in the Episcopal Church. A member of the National Association of Episcopal Schools, the Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools, TMI-The Episcopal School of Texas is fully accredited by the Independent School Association of the Southwest. ISAS schools are recognized as premier private schools not only in the southwest but nationally as well. Adhering to the highest standards of academic excellence, the mission of TMI is to create an excellent educational community with values based on the teachings of Jesus Christ. Knowledge alone can be used for good or ill-for us at TMI we have failed to achieve our goal if we do not also equip our students with an accurate moral compass and the ability to use it no matter the context in which they find themselves. In less formal terms-TMI is a wonderful community. Nestled among the hills on the northwest side of town, the landscape is painted year round with the green of junipers and live oaks, while the campus itself is bustling with activity. Library, labs, playing fields and our distinguished military program create venues for developing the whole person. Our faculty, equipped with the best in education and experience, are dedicated to the task of helping each student reach his or her full potential. Such dedication is not limited to the classroom but flows outward with enthusiasm wherever students are found.
