About
The Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association (GLAZA) offers an extraordinary vacation with up-close opportunities in small groups to discover the beauty of Costa Rica on an adventure presented by Classic Escapes from November 10 , 18, 2007. The journey provides a unique perspective for travelers to one of the world's best wildlife destinations accompanied by Connie Morgan, GLAZA president, and guides with extensive knowledge about fauna, flora, geology, ecology, conservation and natural history. Morgan escorts the "CLASSIC ADVENTURE TO COSTA RICA," which begins in San Jose and explores Braulio Carrillo and Tortuguero National Parks with an aerial tram ride through rainforest offering unparalleled views of flora, fauna and indigenous birds, reptiles, frogs and mammals, as well as a voyage by speedboat to Tortuguero's alluvial floodplain. Also featured are visits to the Arenal Volcano and the Monteverde Cloud Forest, with opportunities to experience wonders of the natural world such as the various sizes and shapes that leaves create as a strategy to capture sunlight. Superior accommodations include hotels situated amid the country's lush landscapes and particularly suited to bird-watching. An optional five-day extension to La Ensenada National Wildlife Refuge, Palo Verde National Park and Tamarindo Beach (Guanacaste) is available. The "Classic Adventure" (without the extension) is $2,995 per person, double occupancy, plus taxes. The trip, which departs from Los Angeles, is operated by Classic Escapes, whose mission is to provide educational and entertaining experiences that nurture and directly support diverse wildlife and cultures around the world. The firm has established the Classic Escapes Conservation Fund, which provides a percentage of profits to support conservation and wildlife researchers performing their critical work in the field. GLAZA, founded in 1963, is a private, non-profit organization that raises money for exhibits, conservation, exhibits, conservation, programming, education and volunteer programs, research and other programs of the city-owned Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens. GLAZA currently has more than 70,000 member households. The Los Angeles Zoo, an international leader in the conservation of endangered species and one of the city's major cultural and entertainment resources, is home to more than 1,200 mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles representing more than 370 different species. The Zoo participates in cooperative worldwide Species Survival Plan projects and is dedicated to the conservation of rare and endangered wildlife.
