What Is bound4blue?

bound4blue's highly innovative eco-friendly solution brings aviation technology to the shipping industry, via a new foldable wingsail designed specifically for assisted clean propulsion of vessels. This is critical for an industry looking for more efficient propulsion systems and emissions reduction. The rigid wingsail system, similar to an airplane wing but adapted to merchant vessels' requirements, is integrated onto those vessels. Thanks to the wind, the wingsail generates part of the thrust required, thus reducing the fuel consumption and thereby the pollutant emissions. The system is fully automated , fully orientable and completely foldable to the ship's deck. It brings fuel savings up to 40% (and associated emissions reduction) with a return of investment under 5 years, offering a complete solution to the industry challenges in both existing and new vessels. Also, we are working on an alternative application of the wingsail technology to design in the future a boat propelled by these wingsails, capable of producing hydrogen and oxygen by means of the electrolysis of seawater in a clean and cost-efficient way.
