What Is Young Musicians Foundation?
Young Musicians Foundation (YMF) provides access to great musical education and experiences that strengthen communities through social, cultural and intellectual engagement. Since our founding in 1955, the Young Musicians Foundation has strived to provide access to high-quality musical education and experiences to youth, regardless of economic or cultural background. Through our Teaching Artist Program (TAP), we provide tuition-free instruction to over 1,400 students in 13 schools and sites in greater Los Angeles. For classical musicians seeking professional careers, we offer the Debut Chamber Orchestra (DCO), one of the oldest pre-professional training orchestras in the U.S. Notable alumni such as André Previn and Michael Tilson Thomas have helped establish Debut’s reputation as one of the country's premier training orchestras. Members are 18-25 years old and must pass a rigorous audition process. The DCO, celebrating its 63rd season, performs a five-concert season annually at prominent venues such as The Broad Stage and the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts.
