YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles is a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Across 100 miles of Los Angeles County, from San Pedro to Antelope Valley, 23 Ys engage nearly half a million men, women and children - regardless of age, income or background - to nurture the potential of children and teens, improve the nation's health and well-being, and provide opportunities to give back and support neighbors. Thanks to the L.A. Y's donors, policy-making volunteers and program volunteers, no one is turned away from the YMCA for inability to pay. Approximately 25% of member families receive financial assistance, with subsidies as high as 95%. With long-standing relationships and physical presence the Y is able to not just promise, but to deliver lasting personal and social change.
