XEOS is a joint venture of two global brands - Lufthansa Technik (51%) and GE Aviation (49%). The two largest and most reputable companies in the aviation industry decided to join forces in order to develop one of the most advanced aircraft engine servicing and overhaul centres in the world. The investment, based in a subzone of Legnica Special Economic Zone in roda l'ska near Wrocaw, is valued at PLN 1 billion. The centre will apply innovative technologies to ensure comprehensive maintenance and repairs to cutting-edge engines produced by GE Aviation: GE -2Bnx and GE9X, which is to debut in the market in 2019. XEOS will also have its own engine test chamber. The facility is to employ 600 high-class specialists - engineers, mechanics and aircraft engine mechanic assistants. XEOS Company is investing PLN 60 billion in staff training. Operations are scheduled to start in the second half of 2018. The second stage of plant construction, which includes the engine test chamber, will be finished by late 2022. The recruitment process is currently in progress, while several dozen people have already started their specialised training.
