What Is Wheatland Electric Cooperative?

Wheatland Electric Cooperative, Inc., was established as a distribution and power cooperative, in the State of Kansas to provide a vitally needed service for the member consumers which they, as members, could not provide on an individual basis. We, the Board of Trustees of Wheatland Electric Cooperative, Inc., believe that: 1. The cooperative exists solely for the benefit of the member consumers it services. 2. The cooperative will endeavor to bring good and reliable electrical service to the member consumers at a rate which not only is reasonable and competitive, but which will maintain the cooperative in a financially sound condition. 3. The cooperative will provide management with sufficient knowledge and ability to provide all the services needed by its member consumers. 4. The cooperative will endeavor to attract and keep outstanding employees, and they will be paid adequately and have opportunities for growth and responsibilities on the job within their demonstrated capacities. 5. The cooperative will assume the responsibility of promoting and perpetuating better farm and rural area growth and development. 6. The Cooperative will encourage growth and development of small business and industry in the area served by the cooperative. 7. The cooperative will adhere to cooperative principles and techniques in attempting to promote a better community and way of life for the member consumers of the system. 8. The cooperative will make every effort to cooperate and work with other cooperatives, power cooperative, statewide affiliated organizations, and national organizations to accomplish the one primary goal of building a better and stronger rural America.
